Spend a day getting cutting-edge knowledge about user context, by exploring and modeling the contexts around you. It’s like a design-nerd scavenger hunt that helps you see the world more clearly and do better work.
Chances are that, more than ever before, you’re needing to think beyond the boundaries of a single touchpoint. It’s not only about one app, one website, or one gadget anymore — but a whole ecology of interconnected priorities and activities. What user action means for digital objects and places requires more clarity and coherence than ever. Knowing how people make sense of the world helps us design experiences that make more sense to users.
In the Context Walk workshop, we’ll get to the bottom of questions like: Why can a product test great in the usability lab, but fail after launch? How does one part of a service change how users understand the other parts? What’s a “mobile context” — or is there such a thing?
The workshop will give you the chance to:
- Get on your feet and explore the real world around the conference venue, gathering data for analysis.
- Collaborate on analyzing and modeling the contexts you encounter, and devising ways to make them better.
- Practice using architectural principles to create solid foundations for design clarity.
- Learn how to analyze, model, and improve the understandability of any user experience.
